Electricity has became basic need like food, cloth & shelter. There is big role of electricity generation in the GDP growth of India. Therefore in the 11th five year plane there is huge financial provision for electricity generation.
In Maharashtra, electricity is generator mainly from coal & water. Due to limited sources of coal increasing temperature & air pollution State Govt. & Central Govt. have adopted policy to boost renewable, non polluting and environment friendly power resources. Hydro-electric power generation fits above parameters of environment friendliness. This is the reason why the govt. has decided to generate more & more hydro-electricity.
